The Time of My Life
Well, I can’t quite believe it, but the end is finally here. Back In January when I got here, I started to cross the days off on a little calendar I kept on my bulletin board. I remember looking at five months worth of days to cross off and thinking, “May is forever away.” Boy, was I wrong.
People aren’t kidding when they say time flies. Now that calendar is all...

So Much to Do, So Little Time
Well I’m finally updating! There wasn’t much time for blogging during finals week, but thankfully that’s all over now, and I have plenty of time on my hands :)
I actually only had three finals, all last week, and they weren’t too bad in the end. Truthfully, I wasn’t really concerned about them. Something about my time in Spain coming to an end brought me to a...
Weird.
Well I officially only have 20 days left here. The fact that I’ve reached the point where I’m counting in days instead of months is totally weird. Time has flown by much too quickly, and despite missing my family and friends, I don’t feel ready to leave just yet. I feel like this is my life now, and it’ll be weird to go back to what feels like ‘my old life.’

Best Bus Ever
Well, I finally cleaned out my London suitcase today, so I figure I might as well do my last post about the trip while I’m at it.
As per usual it was another bright and early morning for us on Monday. It was one to remember, too. Corrin got up and ready before me and headed downstairs for breakfast. When I went down to meet her she told me about the Osama Bin Laden killing. I hopped...
Tubular
Well it was another jolly day in London town. The weather was a bit chillier, but still not bad. We were of course up early as usual, but we took our time with breakfast today and just relaxed a bit. We even saw a fox outside while we were eating!
Anywho, we kept the chill morning going with a long tube ride and a stroll down Portobello Road, where we did some shopping around and saw Orson...

ABBEY ROAD ABBEY ROAD ABBEY ROAD
It was a good day today, people. I mean like, a really good day. Like, the best day ever pretty much. Where to start? I suppose the beginning is a good place :)
Well we were up bright and early once again because we wanted to fit in a lot today, and boy did we ever. We started out the day by checking out Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament Big Ben, and the London...
Royal Wedding
‘Ello there! Cheers! I’m unbelievably happy to report that Corrin and I finally made it to London. There were plenty of bumps along the way, but after a long, stressful journey we made it to our hostel around 1am last night.
As soon as my head hit the pillow, I was out. But before I knew it six o’clock came and it was time to get ready. We hit breakfast and headed to the...
Sunshine and Candy
Today is a good day. Yes, it’s still early, and I don’t want to jinx anything, but it’s been pretty great so far.
First of all it’s Tuesday, which is my favorite class day. That also means I got to see my Jordan this morning for the first time since he got back from Norway, or as I like to call it (for no reason whatsoever) Norwegia. Tuesday also means cafe time with...
Semana Santa - Logistics
Alright, I’ve been meaning to get to this for a few days now. So here it is my official semana santa post. It’s going to be a long one, so prepare yourselves; there’s a lot to go over. I’ll get through all the basic need to know stuff here and then I’ll write a separate post about my personal experiences, because goodness there’s a lot to go over.
To start, let’s go over what it is exactly....
I Spy...
Saturday was science museum day for Sam and I, and boy did we see a lot. Thankfully one of our “host sisters” works there and got us in for free. Yay connections!
We spent a good five and a half hours walking around and we didn’t even see everything. But we did see most of it. Some of the highlights included the butterfly house (awesome), the taxidermy exhibit (floating...
FRIJOLITO!
Well Sam and I have officially dubbed Friday nights “Sangria and Frijolito” night. Last Friday night as we sat down to dinner we did some channel surfing and stumbled upon what is now our new favorite show, Frijolito. It’s a latin american show about a little boy named, you guessed it, Frijolito. He’s pretty adorable and now that we’ve seen it a whipping two times,...
Oh Sweet Jesus...
So today a couple of high school girls from Jersey showed up at our house. They’re here on break and didn’t like the house they were at, so until Wednesday they’ll be staying here.
Needless to say it’s going to be an interesting few days. Good lord I forgot what teenage girls are like. And I was one not too long ago. I already feel like a grandma around these two.

My boat floats, does yours?
Well kids, it’s time for the sunday-night-here’s-what-I-did-this-weekend blog update. I know, every body’s favorite.
Unfortunately we had to have class this Friday, but luckily my morning one was cancelled. Still had to go to culture class with Corrin, though. We spent some time after class hanging out by a fountain, soaking up the sun. And eating chocolate we didn’t...
Salsa in the kitchen, but not the kind you eat...
Despite what weather reports told me, this week started out a little on the chilly side. It was only in the low seventies :P But, things got warmer as the week went on and I happily broke out my shorts. To which Mamache replied, “what legs you have! Watch out for those boys out there. They’ll be whistling!” Is it just me, or does Mamache think my shorts are too short…

Submitted for the approval of the Midnight...
I call this post, Tale of The Lazy Saturday. Yesterday I wasn’t feeling so hot, so I pretty much just lounged around watching Are You Afraid of the Drak all day on my laptop. Hence the title of this post.
Today unfortunately wasn’t very eventful either, but it was in fact productive. I checked lots off of my to-do list. Including finally getting those pictures from my geography...

POGS
So this week Jordan, Corrin and I decided it was about time to hit up the beach. So Saturday morning we made our way to the bus station and headed down to Almuñecar, a city along the coast.
The scenery along the way was pretty great, and the beach didn’t disappoint either. We headed straight for the shore when we got off the bus. We set up camp in the sand and pretty much stayed right...
"Who has to clean this up?"
Happy Belated St. Patrick’s Day, all! Jordan, Corrin and I celebrated on Thursday by heading on over to Paddy’s, an Irish bar, of course. There we enjoyed some Guiness and reminisced about our Dublin trip. Overall, it was a pretty good night :)
The fun continued Friday night when we went to what was literally the biggest party I’ve ever been to in my life. Let me explain,...
JENGA
So as per usual, after class today was coffee date time. Maushika joined Corrin and me this morning and we hit up a restaurant/bar not too far from the school.
This restaurant/bar happens to have a little shelf of board games. Which now that I think about it, I’m not sure why. As I am pretty sure that Spaniards aren’t really the board game type. They’re too busy being...
Adventures in Spanglish, Gagalicious
So the ever exciting Adventures in Spanglish is back. Unlike past moments, this one was entirely intentional, and I think it beautifully demonstrates how sometimes one language just isn’t enough.
It really speaks for itself, and proves that despite lingual differences, some things are just universal:
Professor: Uy, Lady Gaga, ella es de “freaky-town,” no?
She...
The Secret Gardens of Narnia
The past couple weekends have both started off the same way, eating out with friends. Last Friday night it was pizza and wine with the girls. This Friday it was some great Chinese food with Maushika and Corrin. Afterwards we hit up Cafe Futbol for coffee and dessert. We also had some great conversations. Most of which pertaining to snakes. Watching Corrin freak out = possible highlight of the...
...Mayonaisse?
So, I just thought I’d take a moment and share with you all what I ate today. Breakfast was the usual bowl of Special K and toast. Nothing unusual there, thus why breakfast is my favorite meal.
Lunch on the other hand, was a soup that I believe to be a Mamache original. Potatoe, fish, and mayonaisse soup anyone? Yeah, you read that right. It strangely wasn’t too bad.
Dinner...
Adventures in Spanglish, Como te llamas?
So, it’s that time again. TIME FOR ADVENTURE! Okay, it’s really not that exciting, in fact, it’s not necessarily a spanglish moment either. But, it was a moment of metal confusion so, it’ll do.
Paula, Corrin, Jordan and I headed over to Calle de San Juan de Dios today because is his day! Every day has a saint here, and today is San Juan de Dios’ day. So we...
Meenesohta Teemberwoulves... and Tigers
So as you may have previosuly read, it was a pretty boring week last week (as in the last week of February). As such, I wasn’t too excited for my Geography trip. Getting up to leave at 5:00am did not sound like a thing I wanted to do. But, I did it, and in the end, I’m glad because it actually turned out pretty great.
The trip started with a 5+ hour bus drive. There were three...
Kittens →
So this actually has nothing to do with kittens, but I needed a title. So, kittens it is. Anywho, I know it’s been a slow blog week, but I’ll try and update sometime tomorrow. Until then, here’s my girl Corrin’s blog to keep you entertained :)
Adventures in Spanglish, 3.0
It’s that time of the week again! Yippee! I know how excited you all must be for another edition of the ever-exciting Adventures in Spanglish. Heck, I know I’m excited.
As mentioned last time, this week’s moment of bilingual confusion is brought to you by CORRIN! This special moment took place in a kebab place late one evening:
Employee: ¿Pollo o ternera? (Chicken or...

Warning: Boring Post Ahead
So, I’m sorry to report that life hasn’t been too eventful this week. Not much going on really. Just going to class and living life as usual. Corrin and I have had a couple great coffee dates though, as have Eleanor and I.
This weekend I’ll be going on an overnight though with my Geography class to a national park. It’s called Parque Nacional de los Cabaneros. I have...
Adventures in Spanglish, Part Deux
Well kids, it’s that time of the week again! Time for another episode of Adventures in Spanglish! Woo.
This week’s adventure is brought to you by… me! How exciting.
So, here’s the skinny: all you need to know prior to reading on is that Christopher Columbus’ spanish name is Cristobal Colon. Also, history is not my strong suit.
Maushika: So would you say...
Little Bird vs. Food
Okay people, prepare yourselves, because this very well could turn into a rant. I’ll do my best not to let that happen though.
Here’s the deal, spanish mothers LIVE to feed their kids. It’s what they do. And let me tell you, they take it very seriously. My Mamache is definitely no exception. She is all about how much we eat.
This was especially difficult during the...
"Rook Raggy, rhosts!"
As my loyal readers may recall (hey, Mom) I mentioned in a post last month that our school has apparently had some paranormal activity. I also said that I would follow up on this topic, and I most definitely have.
As far as the school goes, that’s just a few rumors. BUT, upon doing some research I discovered that Granada, in fact, has some ghost stories of it’s own. One in...
Adventures in Spanglish
As anyone who has ever tried to learn a new language can attest to, sometimes things can get mixed up. My time thus far in Spain has definitely confirmed the previous statement. So, in honor of these moments of bilingual mishaps, I’ve decided to start a weekly post about, you guessed it, spanglish. And I’ve creatively entitled this series, Adventures in Spanglish.
This...
Bread in my soup?
Well kids, it was a pretty good Sunday. Rounded off the weekend by relaxing most of the day and watching some How I Met Your Mother. Got in a little yoga and headed on an adventure with Corrin!
After lunch we began our hike. We headed through the Albaicin neighborhood and into the hills! The scenery was great and we finally got to see some green (there’s not much grass to be had here,...
¿Mas agua?
Well after our first week of classes, I’m already pumped to have Fridays off. I don’t think I could get up that early another day. So far it’s been a pretty good weekend.
Things started off great on Thursday after class when Corrin and I hit up Cafe Futbol after class. Of course Corrin went for the classic chocolate y churros, and I of course had one :) But this time I...
Early Mornings, Boo Hiss
Well classes started back up this week! And unfortunately, I have an 8:30am class every morning :( I’m already hating it and the first week isn’t even over yet. But at least there are no classes on Fridays!
So far they’ve been going well! I found out that in my geography class we’ll be doing a couple of overnights which will be interesting.
And in my culture and...

All Around The Blooming Heather
Well, here’s how the rest of the Dublin trip went!
We hit up the Archaeology and Natural History parts of the National Musuem. And Natural History was most definitely my favorite. They had practically any and every animal you could ever think of, and it was great. As Jordan and Corrin could tell you, I was a total goon: “They’re so much bigger in person!”
We also...
